WEST SIDE STORY
UCHS Performing Arts Center |
Directed by Anthony Gusevich
Choreographed by Cristen Pennello
Music Direction by Tania Alvarez
Set in New York City in the mid-1950s, WEST SIDE STORY explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds and the love that emerges between them. Based upon Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet this gritty reinterpretation of the classic musical narrows in on the themes of racism, prejudice, and the dangers of gang life.
